On February 2, the Russian Justice Ministry announced the classification of Oleg Orlov, a seasoned Russian human rights advocate, as a “foreign agent.” The ministry stated that individuals and entities on this list are obligated to include a disclaimer on their published items and adhere to stringent financial reporting and self-disclosure requirements. Oleg Orlov, aged 70, has served as a prominent leader of the Memorial human rights group for over two decades. Notably, the group received a share of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022, a year subsequent to being banned and dissolved in Russia.
